Mindfulness Toolbox

Mindfulness is a word we hear often. So what’s mindfulness? According to Psychology Today, “Mindfulness is a state of active, open attention to the present. This state is described as observing one’s thoughts and feelings without judging them as good or bad.”  Mindfulness is not something that we are not doing already.  We practice mindfulness everyday. It is whatever we are actively giving our attention to, in the present moment.

When you are gardening, walking, laughing with your living ones, those are all mindful living acts.  But there are ways to practice purposeful mindfulness, where you conscious of being fully present and fully experience your life AWAKE!  When we are awake in our lives, we are invested with every breath we take. We slow down and allow ourselves to see, feel, taste, hear, and fully live each moment.

How do we equip ourselves to be more present? Here are some tools I have in what I like to call my ‘mindfulness toolbox”. I hope few of these suggestions will assist and inspire you to live more of the life you have been giving. When we see all that we truly have our longing for more seems to magically dissolve.

One big tool is activating our feel good hormones, while we practice living mindfully in our day to day lives.

THE LOVE HORMONE has been known to be released through these actions:

  • PLAYING WITH YOUR PET

  • GIVING A COMPLIMENT

SEROTONIN regulates mood, happiness and anxiety

About Me

Hi, I am Lisa. I am learning every day how to love up on this beautiful gift of living, cherishing each moment as it comes. Especially because at 38 I was dying, and now I am 55 years old, I have gained a deeper appreciation for life’s simple pleasures. I’m married to my wonderful husband of 30 years, who not only supports me through thick and thin but has also selflessly served as my kidney donor, a true testament to his love and commitment. Together, we have raised two incredible kids, aged 38 and 25, and I delight in watching them thrive. Our family has expanded beautifully with two grandkids who fill our lives with joy, a lovely daughter-in-law who has seamlessly joined our family, and a grand fur baby who adds warmth to our home. Here you will find life, food, and how I set the table with love for myself, my friends, and my family, creating cherished memories around meals that go beyond nourishment. I hope it inspires you to love up on your life a bit more and encourage you to surround your table with love, laughter, and the people you hold dear. We get one go at this precious journey, so let’s make it something deliciously beautiful, savoring each bite along the way. Thanks for stopping by; your presence adds to the warmth of this shared experience.
