Munchable Masterpieces: Edible Crafts & A Mother’s Day Brunch Made With Love

There’s something so special about Mother’s Day crafts.

The handprints, the painted flower pots, the little treasures brought home with excitement and love. My boys made them for me, my grandchildren make them now, and honestly, I still have many of those sweet keepsakes today.

So for this year’s Mother’s Day TV segment on FOX 5 Atlanta Good Day Atlanta, I wanted to take that tradition and give it a delicious twist.

What if the crafts were edible?

Beautiful enough for a Mother’s Day brunch table, but still playful, creative, and made with love by the family for Mom.

From edible dessert towers to cream cheese art canvases and chocolate candles, this menu was designed to feel whimsical, elegant, and approachable all at once.

How to Make an Edible Dessert Tower

This instantly became the centerpiece of the table.

To make one, start with:

  • A foam cone
  • Plastic wrap
  • Toothpicks or decorative skewers

Wrap the foam cone tightly in plastic wrap so it remains food-safe. Then begin layering your treats around the cone.

For mine, I used:

  • Madeleine cookies
  • Stuffed sprinkle cookies
  • Miniature donuts

I also tucked in silk flowers throughout the tower to make it feel extra whimsical and beautiful for Mother’s Day.

The beauty of a dessert tower is that it doesn’t have to be perfect. The layering and variety create that magical “wow” factor all on their own.

The Cream Cheese Art Canvas

This was edible art at its finest.

Start by wrapping your serving board or canvas tightly in plastic wrap so the surface stays food-safe and easy to clean. Then spread whipped cream cheese across the board like a blank canvas.

From there, decorate it with fresh chives and dried edible flowers to create a floral-inspired piece of artwork guests can actually eat.

You could also add:

  • Cucumbers
  • Tomatoes
  • Radishes
  • Nuts
  • Honey drizzles
  • Crackers or crostini

It becomes part appetizer, part centerpiece, and part conversation piece.

White Chocolate & Milk Chocolate Candles

These little edible candles looked so elegant on the table.

I melted white chocolate and milk chocolate separately, poured them into candle molds, and created my own edible wicks using kitchen twine dipped in food-grade beeswax.

Once hardened, they became edible décor that felt playful, creative, and beautiful for a Mother’s Day brunch table.

The Mother’s Day Brunch Menu

Peach Green Tea

Light, refreshing, and perfect for spring entertaining.

Ingredients

  • 4 green tea bags
  • 6 cups water
  • 2 ripe peaches, sliced
  • 2–3 tablespoons honey
  • Ice

Instructions

Bring water to a gentle boil. Steep tea bags for 5 minutes. Remove tea bags and add peaches while the tea is still warm. Stir in honey and let chill. Serve over ice.

The peaches give the tea a naturally sweet flavor that feels soft, fresh, and perfect for Mother’s Day.

Lemon Herb Chicken Salad

Creamy, bright, and full of fresh herb flavor.

Ingredients

  • 3 cups shredded cooked chicken
  • 1/3 cup vegan mayo
  • 1/3 cup plain Greek yogurt
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon Sicilian seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 tablespoon fresh dill
  • Juice of 1 lemon
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped celery
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

Mix everything together until creamy and well combined. Chill before serving.

I love serving this with croissants, crackers, or lettuce cups for brunch gatherings.

Tomato, Watermelon & Cucumber Salad

This salad tastes like spring on a plate.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups watermelon cubes
  • 1 cucumber, sliced
  • 1 cup cherry tomatoes
  • Juice of 1 lemon
  • 2 tablespoons blood orange olive oil
  • Sea salt
  • Fresh basil

Instructions

Layer watermelon, cucumber, and tomatoes onto a platter. Drizzle with lemon juice and blood orange olive oil, sprinkle with sea salt, and finish with fresh basil.

Simple, bright, refreshing, and beautiful.

Sun-Dried Tomato, Spinach & Smoked Gouda Quiche

Savory brunch perfection.

Ingredients

  • 1 pie crust
  • 6 eggs
  • 1 cup half-and-half
  • 1 cup smoked gouda, shredded
  • 1/2 cup sharp white cheddar
  • 1 cup spinach
  • 1/3 cup chopped sun-dried tomatoes
  • Salt and pepper

Instructions

Preheat oven to 375 degrees.

Whisk eggs and half-and-half together. Stir in cheeses, spinach, and sun-dried tomatoes. Pour into pie crust and bake for 35–40 minutes until golden and set.

The smoked gouda gives this quiche such incredible richness and depth of flavor.

Mother’s Day doesn’t have to be extravagant to be meaningful.

Sometimes the sweetest gifts are the handmade ones.

The thoughtful ones.

The ones created around a table filled with laughter, creativity, beauty, and love.

And when they’re edible?

Even sweeter.

About Me

Hi, I am Lisa. I am learning every day how to love up on this beautiful gift of living, cherishing each moment as it comes. Especially because at 38 I was dying, and now I am 55 years old, I have gained a deeper appreciation for life’s simple pleasures. Together, we have raised two incredible kids, aged 38 and 25, and I delight in watching them thrive. Our family has expanded beautifully with two grandkids who fill our lives with joy, a lovely daughter-in-law who has seamlessly joined our family, and a grand fur baby who adds warmth to our home. Here you will find life, food, and how I set the table with love for myself, my friends, and my family, creating cherished memories around meals that go beyond nourishment. I hope it inspires you to love up on your life a bit more and encourage you to surround your table with love, laughter, and the people you hold dear. We get one go at this precious journey, so let’s make it something deliciously beautiful, savoring each bite along the way.
