I made this meal for a friend I love, someone I realized I had not spent real one-on-one time with in years.
And I didn’t realize how much I needed it.
We sat at the table, ate, laughed, cried, talked about life, and simply enjoyed being in each other’s presence. She lifted my soul that day.
It reminded me why I believe so deeply in setting the table with love.
Because a full table is nice, but a connected table is better.
Food gives us a reason to gather, but what happens once we sit down is what matters most. The stories. The laughter. The tears. The feeling of being seen. Sometimes sharing a meal is really just an invitation to slow down long enough to find each other again.
Food brings us together. Love keeps us coming back again and again.
And the food? I kept it simple, seasonal, and perfect for lingering around the table.

This lunch reminded me that sometimes we don’t need a big occasion or a crowded table.
Sometimes we simply need to call the friend, make the food, sit down, and stay awhile.
The best ingredient really is who you share it with.
